There is never a great time for an irrigation problem and sometimes a small problem can turn into a big one if not fixed or it is not fixed properly.
We started doing irrigation work right after becoming properly licensed in 2008 and after all of these years we have become more and more proficient in diagnosing and fixing irrigation issues and leaks even if we did not install the irrigation parts. Per Nevada law, most "for hire" people / companies need a C10 contractors license to work on irrigation. Our C10 license is C10 0070688 and our bid limit is $50,000.
Every irrigation repair or service is different, some are to replace broken or missing emitter heads, some involve replacing a PVB that is also called a backflow while sometimes irrigation clocks need to be replaced or programmed. Many times properties have a PVB / Backflow for the irrigation system to turn on and off the water. It might look like the ones above or it may be a different style. Never force knobs and make sure it is only for the irrigation. If the PVB is broken, leaking or rusted we may be able to replace it.

Irrigation parts we commonly work on
PVB / Backflow
They may have a copper colored top instead of a black one like this one. Often times we see them located in homes front or the side yards. Many times turning the PVB off will stop water from leaking in an irrigation system.

Many times the irrigation clock is located in the garage at single family homes. Turning the clock off will not always stop irrigation leaks. These clocks can stop working so checking that they work is important to many residents. If you have a landscaper who does landscape maintenance at your property some people prefer to have a clock installed outside so their landscaper has easier access to it and does not need to access your garage but it does not work for everyone.

A similar set up may be located in a valve box with a green or tan top that is usually flush with the ground. When for grass there is usually not a filter or pressure reducer and instead of black poly there is probably PVC.

They come in different shapes and sizes and are usually near plants or where plants use to be. They can come off, get clogged or break. Many times they are connected to spaghetti line, a thin, flexable black line / pipe.

Some violations that may result in a water waste fee include:
- Any water that sprays or flows off your property
- Watering outside of assigned watering day(s)
- Failure to comply with drought restrictions
- Using sprinklers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. between May 1 and Aug. 31
- Failure to repair a malfunction in your irrigation system or supply line within 48 hours
What are the fines?
Depending on your water provider's service rules and ordinances, fines can range from $40 up to $5,000 for repeat violations.
